2021 Council/Trustee Election Nominations

Dear Registrants,

Serving as a Council Member and Trustee is a valuable and rewarding experience, and one that we would welcome all Registrants considering. Being a Council Member/Trustee means that you will play a vital strategic role in shaping the future of the AfN, UKVRN and our activities.

Experience as a Trustee/Director is not essential and all newly elected Trustees have training provided, plus the support of other Council Members and the AfN staff team.

We want Council to be as inclusive as possible and we appreciate the benefit of having individuals from different backgrounds and experience levels, as they bring with them a valuable range of opinions and expertise, therefore we would encourage all Registrants to consider this opportunity. We would in particular welcome in nominations from Registrants who also have experience in one or more of the following: charity treasurer/finance, regulation, equity & inclusion, communications, mentoring and/or working in industry or freelance with the public.

The time commitment is approximately 7-10 days a year, with attendance of four meetings held across the year, the majority of which are held online using a virtual conferencing platform. Although the post is un-remunerated, travel expenses are provided in accordance with the AfN Expenses Policy for any meetings that need to be attended physically.

All those wishing to stand for Council must complete the application form, available via the link below, and be prepared to assume all the legal and fiduciary responsibilities of a Charity Trustee and offer independent, considered oversight of AfN’s regulatory activities, financial plans and strategic ambition.

Trustees need to be prepared to engage in the detail of issues that emerge during the year, serving on committees and working groups as required, providing sound leadership and acting as a credible, authoritative advocate for the profession.

If you have any questions about the responsibilities of the role, please do not hesitate contact the office.

Kind regards,

Prof Janet Cade RNutr FAfN,
AfN Honorary Secretary & Trustee
