Initial guidance relating to updated degree accreditation standards
1st April 2025
This provides a transition period to give programme teams time to review the new standards and competencies, and make any changes they may need to, so as to meet the new standards.
By April 2025.
At Annual Monitoring in 2025 we will ask you for information to demonstrate how your programme is meeting the new standards.
Initially, through Annual Monitoring.
However, from 2025 when a programme is due for reaccreditation we will ask you to use the new application form and map the programme against the updated standards.
If you are currently working on accreditation or reaccreditation for your programme using the 2023 application form, which is mapped against the previous set of Standards, you will be assessed under the previous set of (2018) Standards.
Once the new application form is available, you will be able to apply for accreditation or reaccreditation using the new form and new guidance.
We will write to you in the summer of 2023 to advise you about your options.
Yes. If your reaccreditation is due in 2025 you should prepare your submission under the new (2025) standards.
In 2024, the new application will be available on our website.
No. You will need the new form because the mapping forms will be different.
The fees are not changing as part of this review of standards.
From time to time we review our fees and will advise separately if this results in any changes.
Please email the Quality Assurance (Education) team, who will pass your question on to the relevant person. We will also add any repeatedly asked questions to this guidance and/or include in the detailed guidance to be published in due course
