The updated Degree Accreditation Standards come into effect on 1^st April 2025

This provides a transition period to give programme teams time to review both the new standards and ANutr competencies, and make any changes they may need to, so as to meet the new standards

The new Degree Accreditation Standards must be met by April 2025.

At Annual Monitoring in 2025 we will ask you for information to demonstrate how your programme is meeting the new standards.

Initially, through Annual Monitoring.

However, from 2025 when a programme is due for reaccreditation we will ask you to use the new application form and  map the programme against the updated standards.

If you are currently working on accreditation or reaccreditation for your programme using the 2023 application form, which is mapped against the previous set of Standards, you will be assessed under the previous set of (2018) Standards.

Once the new application form is available, you will be able to apply for accreditation or reaccreditation using the new form and new guidance.

We will write to you in the summer of 2023 to advise you about your options.

Yes. If your reaccreditation is due in 2025 you should prepare your submission under the new (2025) standards.

We will publish this on our website by 2024.

If you are applying in 2023, you may use the existing application form.

In 2024, the new application will be available on our website.

No. You will need the new form because the mapping forms will be different.

The fees are not changing as part of this review of standards.

From time to time we review our fees and will advise separately if this results in any changes.

Relevant Event & Date

1st April 2023: Updated AfN Degree Accreditation Standards, Core Competencies for ANutr/RNutr Registration and Standards for Independent and Freelance Practice are published.

1st July 2023: Standards for Independent and Freelance Practice come into effect.

September 2023: Assessment pilot for updated degree accreditation standards starts with invited programmes.

December 2023: New application form (using the updated degree accreditation standards) available online.

January/February 2024: Early adopters invited to submit applications for accreditation/reaccreditation using updated degree accreditation standards.

1st April 2024: Updated Core Competencies for RNutr registration come into effect.

AMR Cycle 2024/5: Annual monitoring to assess how currently accredited programmes (will) met the updated degree accreditation standards.

1^st April 2025: Updated Core Competencies for ANutr registration come into effect and updated Degree Accreditation Standards also come into effect for all accredited degree programmes/applications.
