Practitioner (Adult Weight Management)
The Role:
To provide delivery for an evidence based behavioural change obesity programme for adults during their weekly and potentially their monthly maintenance phase.
The role will involve travel across South and West Essex so access to a car is essential. The working hours will change week to week and the successful candidate will need to be available at least two evenings per week, and be very flexible with their availability.
Key responsibilities:
- Be responsible for leading groups of adults to enable them to lose weight in an effective and sustainable way. Delivery should account for 80% of a practitioner’s time.
- Deliver the multi-component programme ensuring an action orientated approach to learning for the full range of individuals to fully engage.
- Use psychological coaching strategies, including motivational interviewing, goal setting and ACT, mindfulness and Compassion focused therapy skills to motivate clients to overcome barriers and achieve desired weight loss.
- Supporting adults by facilitating interactive and engaging sessions on physical activity, dietary and healthy eating advice.
- Support and encourage adults to set realistic goals in terms of changing behaviour and achieving positive healthy outcomes.
- Lead inclusive, fun, motivating and positive lifestyle experiences, considering the individual needs of the members of each group.
- Promote an enabling approach to engaging with the MoreLife programme. Ensure there is the regular communication with participants between sessions, call those who do not attend and conduct follow up calls and drop in sessions on a regular basis.
- Be sensitive and supportive to the physiological needs of participants, and work collaboratively with the clinical team to address any additional needs or signposting
- Regularly evaluate the success of the programmes and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement in terms of outcomes.
- Adhere to local and national safeguarding procedures.
