Food and Health Sessional Worker
Role
The development team sessional workers will join our dynamic team, assisting with one or more of our community development projects within the contracted period to facilitate cooking group sessions, deliver educational activities and promote positive public health messages around nutrition and diet to adults and children.
Background
Edinburgh Community Food is a dynamic organisation, dedicated to supporting the people of Edinburgh to improve their health and wellbeing through nourishing food and wrap-around support. We deliver multiple food and health-based community development initiatives around the city, including working with the City of Edinburgh Council to deliver food and health sessions for families during school holidays.
The development team sessional workers will join our dynamic team, assisting with one or more of our community development projects within the contracted period to facilitate cooking group sessions, deliver educational activities and promote positive public health messages around nutrition and diet to adults and children.
Required
- Food prep skills/cooking in a community setting
- Good knowledge of statutory nutritional guidelines
- Own transport
- REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene or equivalent
- Compassionate and empathetic
- Experience working with vulnerable communities
- High level of organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365
- Experience facilitating group work
- Ability to work in a busy environment and use own initiative
Desirable
- Community Development experience
- Experience working with BME communities
- Degree in Nutrition or Community Development
