Assistant Professor in Human Nutrition

Food Science and Nutrition is an integral part of the Department’s research and teaching portfolio, and our research-informed teaching underpins all undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in Applied Sciences. This post will involve designing, developing and delivering innovative and research-informed teaching. The ideal candidate is expected to work effectively as part of the nutrition team, particularly on the existing BSc (Hons) in Food Science and Nutrition, as well as the MSc in Nutritional Science and will also integrate their expertise into the wider nutrition-related research activities at Northumbria University. The successful candidates’ expertise will also inform the Department’s future research activities, with continuation of academic excellence expected through high quality publications, collaborative research activity with industry partners and research income through high-quality funding applications to external bodies such as UKRI, charities and relevant commercial entities.

About You

Applicants must hold a first degree, be qualified to Doctoral level in a relevant discipline, and have demonstrable subject expertise in Human Nutrition, with specialist knowledge gained through research activity, professional practice, or consultancy. We are particularly interested in applications from candidates with expertise in multidisciplinary activities across the spectrum of nutrition-related research, and who have been (or can be) certified by the Association for Nutrition as an RNutr.

Experience of designing, delivering, and assessing high quality teaching and learning practice as well as evidence of high-quality research outputs which are of a quality consistent with criteria for inclusion in future Research Excellence Framework submissions. Applicants with experience of or an interest in collaboration across discipline boundaries are particularly encouraged to apply.
