Senior Nutritionist
This unique and insightful role manages our M&B nutrition strategy, setting ambitious targets and influencing stakeholders in line with M&B nutritional goals and internal and external policies. You will be a subject matter expert on health and nutrition, keeping abreast of legislative changes and industry news and providing direction for the business in the nutrition and sustainable diets landscape.
Alongside this you will strategically plan and manage with the wider Commercial and Marketing teams in relation to the development of M&B Nutrition Strategy, encouraging healthy and sustainable diets within M&B CSR commitments. An expert communicator, you will also pro actively build impactful relationships and work cross-functionally, including Procurement, Marketing, Food Development and Food Technologists to amplify our nutrition objectives.
Reporting into our Head of Food Development, you will be in a mobile role based across the UK and will be required to visit of Food Innovation Centre in Walsall on a regular basis.
What will I be doing…?
The role of a Senior Nutritionist is varied and rewarding, and includes:
- Develop and deliver M&B’s nutrition Strategy working with key stakeholders; Suppliers, Marketing, Purchasing Managers, Operators and Food Development Managers
- Represent M&B as SME on external forums and working groups, presenting, lobbying, and actively engaging with external stakeholders on nutritional issues, including Department of Health and Social Care, Pressure Groups, the media, and Health Charities to inform policy
- Manage all nutritional information for accuracy and compliance with legislation and M&B’s policies. Driving continual improvement to ensure there is smooth delivery of data through Smart Supplier, STEP and guest facing nutrition information
- Be central to the dish and menu creation process for Food Development Managers driving knowledge, advising & supporting on nutritional content ensuring delivery of required standards
- Deliver M&B’s commitments to the Government Obesity Plan – Department of Health and Social Care. Working with key stakeholders and suppliers to ensure voluntary salt, sugar and calorie targets are met.
- Manage the process of nutrition modifiers, defining what a modifier is and maintaining a live report of all current modifiers and related ingredients through the buyside hierarchies
- Validate and approve products and recipes and identify where extra analysis is needed through Nutricalc or lab analysis to substantiate marketing nutrition and health claims. Engage with marketing and advise on healthier options to drive values led food offers where appropriate.
- Manage and deliver full nutrition guides for all brands online to support the Mandatory Calorie Labelling Legislation ensuring the live data is most accurate for the guests and ensure health claims are legally compliant
- Work alongside Heads of Marketing to ensure all points of choice are compliant with Mandatory Calorie Labelling Legislation
- Be central in the effective communication of nutritional information to the consumer, press and all interested parties and continually work with the Head of Press and Guest care in ensuring the ease and visibility of the data
- Work in partnership with Head of Investor Relations & Sustainability to deliver M&B’s CSR Strategy by owning the Nutrition Pillar and attending/minuting the meetings
- Drive best practise alongside the Insights team to deliver information to brands regarding nutrition and calorie reviews to ensure we are industry leading
- Utilise the UK Hospitality Nutrition Group to advise M&B as SME on how to interpret the legislation and inform future policies
