ABOUT THE ROLE
An opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nutritionist who is specialised in dietary intakes to join Intertek’s Scientific & Regulatory Consultancy Food & Nutrition group. The role holder will work in the European office, managing dietary exposure projects within the busy Dietary Intakes team. The Dietary Intakes group has seen consistent growth over the past number of years, and this role will be key in continuing to grow this exciting and dynamic work area. Applicants should have experience in working with dietary modelling software for food and dietary components and working with food consumption data from dietary intake surveys (e.g. National Diet and Nutrition Survey (UK NDNS), National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (U.S. NHANES)).
Dietary intake assessments are pivotal to the risk assessment process, as such, the role involves co-ordinating with multiple stakeholders – internally and externally, including risk assessment bodies, commercial clients, and Intertek’s group of in-house toxicologists. An ability to develop a strategic approach and contribute robust scientific arguments based on the latest scientific data is crucial for the role holder. This is a unique opportunity for candidates wishing to expand their knowledge and experience. The Dietary Intakes group is small but highly productive and the opportunity for mentoring from experienced staff is unique. The work is extremely varied and challenging with lots of opportunity to learn from your peers who have a cross section of complementary scientific skills. We are a consultancy, so in addition to scientific excellence, the ability to review, interpret complex data and explain things clearly as well,the ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines are prerequisites of the role .

•Masters or Ph.D. in Science (Nutrition, Food Science) or Statistics; or Degree (or equivalent) in this area with two years’ experience in the area dietary exposure modelling.
•Experience with statistical software packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS) and food consumption datasets.
•Excellent communication and organisation skills.
•Ability to solve complex problems and develop a strategic approach based on the latest scientific data.
•Keen to learn and continuously expand your own knowledge.
•Self-disciplined, with ability to work on your own and as part of a team.
