News & Feature Journalist

We are looking for a motivated, intellectually curious and organised journalist with a passion for food to join the editorial team and work alongside the digital editor, producing news and features in different digital formats – written, images and video through our digital brand foodmatterslive.com

The ideal candidate:

· You will have 3+ years of proven journalist/reporting experience covering news, features and interviews

· You will have an eye for news and the ability to tell a story in a truly compelling manner

· You will be a quick, accurate and confident writer

· You will have a natural interest in the future of food – from sustainability and innovation to nutrition, agrifood-tech and trends to global food security

· You will be able to bring energy, creativity, passion and enthusiasm to this exciting role

· A background in science and/or nutrition is desirable

· You will have a keen eye for detail and be confident editing and subediting

For this role an excellent command of written and spoken English and CMS skills (ideally WordPress but full training will be given) are required

Digital skills including SEO and image editing

Tasks include:

– researching and writing daily news across Food Matters Live’s key themes: sustainability, innovation, nutrition, ingredients, food trends, and business of food

– Identifying key food innovators as contributors and potential speakers

– Some editing and sub-editing

– sourcing images

– feature writing

– interviewing industry figures

– Brainstorming speaker suggestions with the events team

This is an exciting opportunity to join this fast-paced, innovative business.

The successful candidate will be required to work from our offices in Hammersmith two days a week with the remaining three home based and will report to the Digital Editor.
