Main duties of the job
The nutritionist or nurse is responsible for supporting the delivery of the NCMP and supporting children and young people to develop a healthy lifestyle, follow up in schools and the local communities they will be working with individuals and groups. The nutritionist/nurse will contribute to the development and delivery of targeted public health nutrition interventions as requested by local commissioners in the service specification; for example developing group education programmes within clinics and schools.
You will need to be self-motivated, an excellent communicator, be able to work alone, with the drive and determination to lead on the delivery of high quality nutritional care for the children and young people of Barnet.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To provide one to one support to children and families identified as requiring healthy dietary and lifestyle advice.
- To write clear concise treatment plans with reviews carried out within expected timeframes.
- To be able to identify health needs and support appropriately or sign post.
- To deliver training sessions to other professionals on health lifestyles
- Support schools, children and young people to develop a healthy lifestyle

Education/Qualification
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse or Nutritionist or Dietician ( with registration)
- Evidence of post registration training
Desirable criteria
- SCPHN School Nurse
Skills and ability
Essential criteria
- Evidence ability to deliver group and 121 sessions
- Demonstrate ability to work with young people and their families
- Experiences of working in a multi disciplinary team
- Demonstrate knowledge of digital platforms.
- Be able to work as part of a team and independently
- Ability to communicate effectively written and orally
- Awareness of equal opportunities and valuing diversity
- Ability to manage difficult conversation
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of current national guidance
- Ability to apply research to practice
Knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of planning and delivering health promotion activities. (2) (2)
- Knowledge of NCMP process
- Knowledge of health promotion linked to fitness
- Ability to set personal objectives and manage time, priorities and stressful situation
Desirable criteria
- Experience of NHS data collection
