Good nutrition is essential throughout our lives but especially during childhood. In this interactive e-learning course you will learn about the factors that influence children’s eating habits and the importance of establishing appropriate behaviours and attitudes towards food. Childhood obesity is one of the most serious global health challenges facing the twenty-first century. You will learn about its causes and attendant health risks. Crucially, you will also learn how it can be prevented and managed.

• Consequences of poor nutrition during childhood
• Influences on a child’s diet
• Dietary requirements from infancy through to adolescence
• Encouraging physical activity in children
• Understanding appropriate portion sizes
• Nutrition concerns such as allergies, dental health and eating disorders

• Steps to developing a weight management intervention for families
