Inaugural AfN Annual Discourse
The AfN Discourse 2013 extended our Annual General Meeting to include an afternoon’s discussion.  Since our establishment in June 2010, the growing body of qualified and competent UKVRN registrants has made a significant impact in all sectors of the nutrition profession, across food service, sports and exercise nutrition, public health, nutrition science and animal nutrition.  I am continually struck by the enthusiasm and commitment of registrants, from new graduates keen to start making a difference within public health, NGOs or our large food manufacturers to world leaders pushing the boundaries in translation and production of nutrition science: keeping our discipline fresh and at the forefront of international debate.

The panellists illustrate the scope of the profession aligned to a common ethical code and set of values.  They demonstrated how their particular contributions as Registered Nutritionists help tackle some of society’s most pressing issues; and the value of Registered Nutritionists and a skilled wider nutrition workforce in improving the nutritional health of the nation.

Presentations concluded with an opportunity for the audience to ask panellists questions, followed by informal networking, kindly sponsored by the Yogurt Council.
